On Inspiration

Inspiration strikes one of three ways.

1) Out of no where. But if you wait on this to act, you’ll never get anything done.

2) By willing it into existence.  This works, but often times you need to find the inspiration to inspire your inspiration.

3) By treating your creative endeavors like a day job. And showing up every day to work.  Eventually inspiration will realize she works for you, and she’ll start showing up on time, too.

Also, when all three happen at the same time, you feel like the heavens just opened.  That happened to me this morning…

For more on that 3rd of inspiration read Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art. Your mind will be blown.
